A little oil sketch of smooth stones and a sea shell...

SOLD
I had just listed my little painting of a mill on Ebay, when I decided to do a painting of it, with a painting knife lying in front of it; a very fun little painting to do. (And now I've used the word "painting" a few too many times!)

I'm into a bit of a routine where I'm drawing these LOTR cards in the evenings and painting birds during the day. In between, I'm trying to find time to finish my portrait commissions........and once in a while to do my dishes or toss some laundry into the washing machine!

I love the shape and color of this little bird. Another one of my little square paintings, currently selling on Ebay...

Sunday, February 17, 2008

A customer asked me to paint some birds for a frame he has which has three small square openings; this one won't be for that frame, but it's one of several I've been inspired to do as a result of this request.

I do most of these sketch cards in the evening when it's harder to work with color.......that is if I don't have a meeting to attend. They're great little things to work on when I babysit my grandkids some evenings as well......pencil and paper are easy to schlep along!

A customer bought a bunch of my LOTR sketch cards (in the form of prints) from my Etsy store. He also sent me some websites where I could find more material to draw.........so I'm back to doing some more of these. I'm also working on several portrait commissions these days.

These are my little wooden shoes. I wore them many years ago when I was a small girl living in Holland! I think they had something painted on them but that has long worn off....

While babysitting last night, I drew a sketch of my granddaughter Morrigan's shoes; today I added some oil paint right over top of the graphite. I like the way the Strathmore Bristol Vellum takes the paint.......almost a bit like watercolor.

This little cutie is my granddaughter Leah, about a year and a half ago; She is now a two year old with ringlets down to her shoulders and the ability to almost say the entire alphabet!

This is my little granddaughter,
Nikki, blowing bubbles.
I love blowing bubbles, and
I love drawing them!

I'm going out today to get some
more paper for my charcoal drawings;
Browsing around the art store is such fun!
I usually order my supplies online, but there's nothing like seeing and touching and drooling over a myriad of wonderful art stuff!

I had great fun doing this portrait of my oldest son, Luke, from a snapshot taken a few years ago. Someone recently told me that he looks like my Dad, but I couldn't see it. But, as the portrait was emerging from my paper, I kept seeing my Dad's face!
